Hi,
Can anyone tell me when the 2nd Batt. of the Buffs joined the Boer War?
When did they leave England?

Hi Ralph,
The second battalion, which had been serving at home since 1886, sailed on the 22nd of December 1899, for Cape Town to take part in the Boer War. Upon arrival they marched to the Modder River, and shared in the action at Klip Kraal, and assisted in the relief of Kimberley. They also took part in the battle of Paardeburg on the 18th of February 1900.

Thank you Terry for that information. Can you recommend any books on the Boer War that talk about the Buffs actual participation? Also, do you know where I could get more information on an individual other than places like Ancestry?
